Peanuts Stew with Fried Gluten Balls

  • 10 fried gluten balls
  • 120gm peanut
  • 10 cups water (for boiling peanuts)
  • 250ml water (for cooking this dish)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½tbsp rock sugar
  • 2 star anise
  • Salt (to taste)


  1. Wash peanuts then prepare a pot with 10 cups water. Boil water with high heat then place peanuts into pot, close lid and reduce to medium heat and cook for 2½ hours. After cooking completes, turn off the heat and let it rest for 2 hours. Drain peanuts after 2 hours.
  2. In a separate pot, bring some water to boil, and place gluten balls and cook until soft. Drain and set aside.
  3. Place peanuts, gluten ball and water (add now or later?) into inner pot. Select “Claypot” function and adjust timing to 1 hour and 10 minutes. Dish is ready to serve.
